JIM & CHERYL SEMON IMPACT AWARD
Jim & Cheryl Semon Impact Award
During each Hall of Fame Dinner, Anthony has the honor of presenting the Jim & Cheryl Semon Impact Award to a deserving member of the community who supports the mission and values of the Foundation and is dedicated to impacting the lives of youth. The winner of this award epitomizes all that Jim and Cheryl meant to the life of Anthony. When Anthony was six years old, Jim, then the Director of Parks and Recreation in Ontario, California and his wife Cheryl, gave Anthony his first baseball glove. Little did they know, at the time he was giving so much more to Anthony. Not having a solid role model, Anthony looked up to Jim. Ultimately, Jim became Anthony’s high school baseball coach and he and Cheryl continued to provide the guidance he needed to succeed in life. After Cheryl passed in 2021, the award’s name was changed to honor her memory as well as Jim.
Congratulations to our 2024 Jim & Cheryl Semon Impact Award Recipient!
A Cincinnati native whose roots lie in Hamilton and Fairfield, Kim Nuxhall, a long-time friend of the Foundation, President & Board Chairman of The Nuxhall Foundation and son of the late major league pitcher and Reds broadcaster, Joe Nuxhall, embodies a legacy of service which his father and Muñoz share – developing leadership and character in young minds through building up our community.
Kim Nuxhall serves as the volunteer President and Board Chairman of The Nuxhall Foundation. After a brief career in minor league baseball, Kim spent 32 years as a physical and character education teacher at Central Elementary in Fairfield before turning his focus to The Nuxhall Foundation. The Nuxhall Foundation continues the legacy projects of his late father, Joe Nuxhall. Kim’s primary responsibilities include championing character education in the community through the Joe Nuxhall Character Education Fund, realizing the dreams of countless student athletes in the Tri-State region through the Joe Nuxhall Scholarship Fund, and managing an entirely accessible baseball and recreational facility for every athlete with every challenge through the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields. He spends countless hours volunteering his time maintaining the Miracle League Fields facility and grounds, and teaching character education to children in the community. Because of Kim, his father’s legacy will live on for years to come.
Kim and his lovely wife, Bonnie, reside in Fairfield. On most days, you can find Kim doing one of two things he loves: eating a great lunch at Skyline Chili or working tirelessly at The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields!
